What we offer
Every week and every weekday we offer ultrasound courses ranging from one to two hours. Courses take place right at the radiology department at the First Faculty of Medicine, and include theoretical as well as practical teaching to guide you on the way to understanding ultrasound. Please read the information on our courses, the instructions for signing up, and please follow our simple rules to makes teaching to us as comfortable as possible!
BASICS WORKSHOP
The 1-hour course has a theoretical part dealing with what ultrasound is and the physics behind it as well as the general terminologies important to remember, and a practical part that deals with how to hold the probe, how to orientate yourself and everything that you will need for upcoming courses. Other courses require you to have taken the basics course as we will only shortly review the learned material.
ABDOMEN WORKSHOP
The 2-hours workshop deals with the major organs in the abdominal cavity including the pancreas, liver, kidney, spleen as well as big vessels. Hereby we focus on the practical recognition of the anatomy of the organs, their examination, and discuss the most common pathologies. This course can be revisited multiple times to improve your skills as well as deepening your knowledge.
BUT HOW DO I SIGN UP?
First off, search for a group of 2 to 3 people who would like to go with you! It is not reqiured but it is always better to know your courses can be organized, which is not possible, if you are not at least 2 students.

WORKSHOP POLICIES
Please ALWAYS bring your ISIC and your lab coat as you have nurses and doctors running around who need to know you are not just some patient
Please ALWAYS meet us 5 minutes prior to your workshop in front of the maternity hospital Apolinar, Apolinarska 18. Even if you already know where our room is, we still want to avoid complications involving looking for you.
Book your appointment online at least 2 days prior to the workshop as we need time to organise lecturers for your workshops.
Do not be late for our workshops because we will not extend the time which means less hands-on experience for you.
If we are late please remain in front of Apolinar until we pick you up, and do not send us emails about our whereabouts. We might run late finishing up the class before or have to finish some last preparations.
Be aware that the transducer of the ultrasound device is the most expensive unit which is why we ask you to be extra careful while using it. Your tutor will tell you how to secure it from fall or any other type of damage so make sure to stick to it.
NOTE
We are still medical students with no proper clinical experience; it is not our task to diagnose you with any pathologies, and our judgement cannot be taken without a grain of salt. We are here to teach you the basics of ultrasound anatomy and not their pathologies.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Please keep in mind that cancellation is only possible up until 2 days prior to the booked workshop. If the cancellation takes place later or not at all, we reserve ourselves the right to block the user from booking any further classes for up to 6 months. As we experienced many cancellations, we implemented those rules to make sure our time will be valued by you as much as you value your own time.
